KLOOVE · Log splitters
From block to flame, without swinging
- Splitting without an axe
- Solid steel, powder-coated
- Everything included to start right away
There is a moment just before the fire starts when things go wrong. The wood is too thick, the axe is at the back of the shed, and there are people around you. That is what these log splitters are for. The block goes in and the wood splits. Safe and without an axe.
Two models: one you hang on the wall, the other you take everywhere. Both do the same job and cost the same.

Good to know
About these log splitters
- Splitting without an axe
- No swinging motion
- Solid steel, powder-coated
- Wood up to about 15 cm thick
- Dutch manual
- 30-day cooling-off period
Why solid steel
A log splitter takes a blow with every block. The blade of the manual model is made of manganese steel and the frame of carbon steel, the blade of the wall-mounted model of hardened carbon steel. Everything is powder-coated, so it can stand outside for a whole heating season. Not disposable tools, but something you pass on.
How to keep it in good shape for years
Tighten the fixings now and then in the first weeks, especially at the pivot of the lever. New material settles a little, that is normal. Then store it dry and wear gloves when splitting. Read the full maintenance plan.
Frequently asked questions
Still in doubt?
Which log splitter suits me, the wall-mounted or the manual one?
That depends on where you split. If you have a fixed spot such as a shed or garage, the wall-mounted model works best: you mount it at a height that is right for you and never have to bend over. If you go to different places more often, such as the garden, campsite or holiday home, the manual one is more practical: you can put it down anywhere and it goes with you in the supplied bag. Use the selection guide above for personal advice.
How thick can the wood be?
Both models split wood up to about 15 cm thick. Thicker trunks you first split roughly with an axe or splitting wedge, after which you turn them into kindling with the log splitter in a few seconds.
Which wood can I split, including wet or hard wood?
Dry, straight wood splits most easily. Softer species such as willow, birch, ash, alder and poplar go fastest. Harder wood such as oak or beech is possible too, but takes more force. Damp or freshly cut wood works too, but gives more resistance and burns less well. Wood with large knots or branches splits crooked and awkwardly.
Do I need to fix the log splitter in place?
You always mount the wall-mounted model firmly on a sturdy wall or beam, with the four supplied bolts and washers. The manual log splitter can stand loose, but stands firmest when you fix it on a wooden block or sturdy plank with the two supplied screws.
What is in the box?
With the manual log splitter: the log splitter, a wood bag, a hammer, the manual and two screws. With the wall-mounted model: the wall splitter, the manual, four wood bolts and four washers.
Is it safe to use with children nearby?
The log splitters are exactly meant to take away the danger of a swinging axe: you pull the lever or tap with the hammer, there is no swinging motion. Keep your hands out of the path of the lever or the hammer, do not let children split on their own and keep enough distance during use. Tip: wear sturdy work gloves when splitting.
How much maintenance does it need?
Little. In the first weeks, tighten the fixing screws now and then, especially at the pivot of the lever. New material settles a little. Then store it dry. See the full maintenance plan.
Does the blade need sharpening?
No. The log splitter splits by wedge action, not by cutting, so the blade does not need to be razor sharp. Do you see a dent or burr after a long time? Email me before you do anything about it, and I will look with you at what is best.
Can I also use the log splitter indoors?
Yes, both models are suitable for indoors and outdoors, for example in the shed, garage or by the stove.
